In order to promote the development of Macao’s literature, showcase the power of local literature, and pay tribute to donors from all walks of life, the exhibition “How Words Fly – Exhibition of Donations from Local Writers”, specially curated by the House of Macao Literature under the Cultural Affairs Bureau, was inaugurated today (25 June) at the House of Macao Literature.

In order to promote the development of Macao’s literature, showcase the power of local literature, and pay tribute to donors from all walks of life, the exhibition “How Words Fly – Exhibition of Donations from Local Writers”, specially curated by the House of Macao Literature under the Cultural Affairs Bureau, will be inaugurated on 25 June (Tuesday), at 2:30pm, at the House of Macao Literature, showcasing a rich variety of Macao’s precious literary heritage. All are welcome to visit.

Exhibition “Life under a Pen – Online Exhibition of the Centenary Birth Anniversary of Henrique de Senna Fernandes” to be launched on Friday

      The year 2023 marks the centenary of the birth of renowned Macao writer Henrique de Senna Fernandes. The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) specially launches a special exhibition “Life under a Pen – Online Exhibition of the Centenary Birth Anniversary of Henrique de Senna Fernandes”, on the website of The House of Macao Literature, featuring a collection of over 132 exhibits. The online exhibition will be officially launched on 13 October. The public can browse the high-definition videos and images, as well as descriptions of the exhibits through the website of The House of Macao Literature (www.clm.gov.mo), reviewing the literary connotation of Henrique de Senna Fernandes and his personal achievements.

Cultural Affairs Bureau carries out enhancement works at The House of Macao Literature

The Cultural Affairs Bureau will carry out partial interior space enhancement works in the annex building of The House of Macao Literature from 17 March, which are expected to be completed in early May. During the renovation period, The House of Macao Literature will remain open to the public, and visitors’ experience will not be affected.

The House of Macao Literature inaugurated presenting and promoting the development of local literature

The opening ceremony of The House of Macao Literature was held at 4pm on 17 September and was officiated by the representative of the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR Government, the Chief of Office of the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Ho Ioc San; the Director of the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR, Wan Sucheng; the President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, Leong Wai Man; Member of the Cultural Consultative Committee, Carlos Marreiros;  and the President of the Pen of Macau, Lei Kun Teng. The House of Macao Literature will be open to the general public from tomorrow, showing the aspects of Macao’s literature to residents and tourists, facilitating literary exchanges and diversified combination, and providing a greater space for the development of local literature.

The House of Macao Literature opens on Saturday disseminating the power of literature

In order to disseminate Macao’s literature, develop a literary centre and creative space with collection, showcase, exchange and research functions, the Macao SAR Government has established The House of Macao Literature in the hope of promoting local literary achievements and building an exchange platform in the writing field through a variety of exhibitions and activities, thus propelling cultural inheritance and innovative development. The House of Macao Literature will be inaugurated in the afternoon on 17 September and is open to the general public on the following day.
